30th August 2006- Plugging in
Most movie goers will have seen at least one Matrix film, or else these last few strips would seem really odd to you, and be fully aware of what 'upgrades' the human body needs to log in. It kinda makes you wonder though doesn't it, how far are we away from literally 'plugging in' to explore the electronic world that surrounds us?
Science has given a man limited sight by installing hardware into his brain and skull that requires a mechanical connection to a pair of cameras he wears like glasses. Experiments of this nature are leading to sub-skin implants that work like a mobile phone just by placing your hand near your head. Soon we could all live the 'Inspector Gadget' lifestyle. For the right price of course.
I'm not sure I like the idea of plugging things into my brain, but I am interested in seeing who would.
